CounterPath Helps Verizon Business Deliver Comprehensive Unified Communications Solution
Company's Software Development Kit (SDK) incorporated into Verizon Business’ Integrated Communications Package
Vancouver, BC, Canada — October 30, 2007 —
CounterPath Corporation (formerly CounterPath Solutions, Inc.) (OTCBB: COPA), a leading provider of multimedia VoIP softphones and SIP applications, announced today that the company's software has been licensed by Verizon Business to enable voice, messaging and presence management in its Integrated Communications Package, helping to provide Verizon Business customers with a comprehensive unified communications solution.
Verizon Business’ Integrated Communications Package – currently available to U.S.-based Hosted IP Centrex customers – is a unified communications service which helps businesses increase productivity and efficiency by enabling employees to control incoming and outgoing calls, access voicemail, manage their online presence, send text messages, and synchronize contacts and calendars. Verizon Business' future plans include expansion internationally and integration into its portfolio of advanced audio, net and video conferencing services and contact center services.
“Businesses are looking for solutions that enhance productivity and collaboration across multiple platforms and environments. The Integrated Communications Package from Verizon Business provides an intuitive user experience and we are pleased to be included in the Company's vision for unified communications services,” said Donovan Jones, President and COO of CounterPath. “CounterPath is focused on building carrier grade, rich applications for voice, video, IM and presence. Our enterprise roadmap, which focuses on enhanced collaboration, calendaring, white boarding and conferencing, will fulfill a much needed requirement of businesses today.”
Verizon Business will utilize the strengths of the CounterPath C++ SDK (Software Development Kit) to help power the soft phone components of the Integrated Communications Package. The CounterPath SDK runs beneath the surface of the Integrated Communications Package desktop client allowing Verizon Business customers to direct their incoming calls to a traditional phone, computer, mobile phone, PDA or voicemail.
“Our Integrated Communications Package offers our customers a compelling IP solution for collaboration and mobility,” said Mike Marcellin, vice president of Product Marketing for Verizon Business. “By incorporating the CounterPath softphone SDK into our ICP offering, we can help enable high performance unified communications for our customers in a converged voice and data environment.”
CounterPath is demonstrating its softphone technology within Verizon Business' Integrated Communications Package at the Fall VON Expo (Booth #1249) taking place October 30th and 31st in Boston, MA.
