Technology Partners who have successfully completed interoperability testing are granted permission to use the "CounterPath Certified" logo. The partner's logo is added to CounterPath's website under the Partners section and the results of the testing are released to the public (per the IOT agreement).
CounterPath is dedicated to promoting interoperability among devices. We welcome the opportunity to test any product that adds value to our softphone offerings.
Before your product is submitted for testing, we will assess its ability to interoperate with our softphone. This way we can immediately provide feedback if we determine that the product will not interoperate and avoid any unnecessary costs.
When you send us your request please provide the following information. This information will be the basis for our assessment so please provide as much detail as possible:
We will contact you once we have finished the assessment and arrange to have your products shipped to our testing facility.
Once we have received your product, we will run through a number of technical tests which will test the normal operation of the product and its ability to interoperate with our softphone. This testing will include analysis of any standards supported by the product such as UPDI or Bluetooth.
Objective and subjective testing will be performed to analyze the quality of the media such as audio and video if these apply. Any features that the product supports such as volume buttons, dialing and hangup, video adjustment and any others will be tested.
There may be some cases where we require consultation support to educate us about your product and to eventually achieve interoperability. When testing standards such as UPDI and Bluetooth, we will take an iterative approach to testing the product which will also require consultation with your technical contact.
The testing will normally take place over a 2 week period unless product support is required in which case the test period may be extended to 4 weeks.
A full testplan will be developed for each individual product and the test results from each test session will be made available to you.
Once your product has been fully tested and has proven to be interoperable with our softphone, we will provide a formal co-marketing agreement which enables you to display our "CounterPath Certified" logo. This agreement will be sent to you together with the test results.

Our interoperability and certification program covers signaling and media testing between Bria/eyeBeam and other network elements.
The signaling protocol standard to be tested is the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and the related standards including SDP, DTMF, the SIMPLE and XMPP standards for presence and IM, and codec standards and implementations for both audio and video media. CounterPath strives to ensure interoperability with all network elements. Most network interoperability testing is performed remotely as part of the partner's IOT program. For those partners who do not have a formal program, we work with these companies to develop a custom testing event.

The following USB and Bluetooth headset devices have been tested and certified to work with Bria 4.6 (includes Bria Retail, Bria Stretto and custom brands), as well as with X-Lite 4.9.6. Many other USB headset devices also work with Bria, with varying degrees of supported functionality, but have not undergone formal certification testing and thus are not listed in the table below.

As of Bria 4.5 / X-Lite 4.9.5, users are required to install Plantronics Hub software on their desktops; this software can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.plantronics.com/ca/product/plantronics-hub-desktop By installing this software, users will gain access to some / all of the following functionality: synchronization between soft phone and headset for mute, volume up / down, hold call and answer / hang up buttons; ability to switch audio between devices (e.g. from headset to built-in speaker), optimized interactions when running multiple soft phones (e.g. Skype and Bria), as well as core functionality such as incoming / outgoing call ringing on headset and call audio support. At this time, volume up/down is supported, but the volume up/down button presses on a subset of Plantronics devices (notably Savi 440, Savi 740-M and Voyager devices) are not reflected on the Bria softphone.
Jabra users are required to install Jabra Direct software on their desktops (Windows, Mac). By installing this software, users will gain access to some / all of the following functionality: synchronization between soft phone and USB headset for mute, hold call and answer / hang up buttons; ability to switch audio between devices (e.g. from headset to built-in speaker; core functionality such as incoming / outgoing call ringing on headset and call audio support. At this time, volume up/down is supported, but the volume up/down button presses on the Jabra headset are not reflected on the Bria softphone. Also, Windows support is only provided for CounterPath’s Retail brand at this time (Mac supported was recently added); Jabra is planning to add Windows support for custom CounterPath softphone brands later in 2016.
As a general rule of thumb, users are advised to test any headset prior to purchase to ensure the devices functionality meets their needs.
*These headsets include a USB Bluetooth adapter and have been tested for interoperability. If you encounter interoperability issues with your headset when paired with your computer’s native Bluetooth support, then we recommend pairing your headset with the USB Bluetooth adapter instead.

Bluetooth headsets typically provide basic audio support only, when used in conjunction with Bria iOS and Android soft phones; functions such as Answer and Hang-Up are currently not supported. The following list of headsets have been validated with Bria mobile products, for basic audio support only:

Android devices often have carrier specific software loaded on them, which can affect your operation. Android is a highly customizable system, which presents a challenge for supporting accessories like headsets. Each manufacturer can choose to replace the standard Bluetooth system in Android with an alternative version. Each carrier can also choose to replace the Bluetooth system with an alternative version. This may impact how two phones from the same manufacturer support Bluetooth, even if they are the same model and if they come from two different carriers. In addition, different software installed on the device can affect how the headset operates on the device.
Each version of Android itself can also affect how your device interacts with a headset. For these reasons, we maintain a pool of the most common headsets and phones with a variety of carrier firmware that we test against. We test using the most current firmware for that device and carrier. We do not test against custom ROMs, nor can we determine compatibility with any headset or phone using a custom ROM. Given the wide variety of custom ROMs and the very nature of custom ROMs it is not possible for us to test them. We do not test against all possible carrier ROMs and it is not always possible to get access to these ROMs due to licensing and other restrictions.

For our testing, we use unlocked devices purchased directly from Apple as our test phones, and we test these against a pool of devices. As the vast majority of users generally update iOS devices to most recent firmware, we always test against the most recent version of Apple's iOS software. We do not test against older versions of iOS. We do not support devices with jailbroken firmware, as often jailbreaks affect the performance of the device in unknown ways. We don't prevent you from using our software with jailbroken devices, but we can only support official Apple firmware.
