CounterPath Corporation (NASDAQ: CPAH) (TSX: CCV), a leading developer of award-winning desktop, tablet and mobile VoIP software products and solutions today announced that its Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) partner program, with more than 100 partners currently enrolled, is also welcoming larger Tier 2 operators which are recognizing the program’s value as a way to expand market reach and build loyalty among existing customers with a smooth mobile user experience. CounterPath’s ITSP program helps providers self-certify the Bria mobile and tablet clients so that end users can use an “off the shelf” client without any special confirmation required.
The program is aimed at helping providers combat the Internet over the top (OTT) competitors. As an example, Skype, now owned by Microsoft, delivers approximately 34 percent of all international voice and video traffic. By 2017, nearly 50% of all calls made on a global basis will be VoIP enabled, and up to 80 percent of the 1.07 billion users of OTT mobile VoIP services will be delivered by third-party OTT players.1 CounterPath’s ITSP program is another tool to help providers fight against the competitive threat of Internet OTT providers.
The CounterPath ITSP program enables Internet Telephony Service Providers to certify their service with Bria mobile and tablet softphones for iOS and Android and provide a pre-provisioned service option for consumers within the softphone client. Not only does this simplify the set-up process and improve the user experience for the providers’ current customers but participating ITSPs can expand their market reach to new customers who may purchase and install Bria softphone clients and then choose a provider from the list of certified ITSPs included in the Bria client.
Launched in 2011, the ITSP program has certified more than 100 ITSPs from across the globe, including the United States, United Kingdom, Argentina and Japan, which collectively serve millions of customers worldwide.

Registration for the CounterPath ITSP program is free via the CounterPath website and once approved, the partner will appear in a list of pre-provisioned VoIP providers within CounterPath’s iOS and Android mobile and tablet softphone clients. Operators can also white label their mobile solutions directly from CounterPath, enabling them to customize their softphone solution with their brand identity and customer specific features.
