AT&T Introduces New AT&T Callvantage Softphone Service

PC-Based Digital Phone Service With Industry-Leading Features Offers New Level of Convenience

AT&T Introduces New AT&T Callvantage Softphone Service

Vancouver, BC, Canada — September 04, 2014

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), announced today the availability of AT&T CallVantage® Softphone service, arming subscribers with the flexibility to use AT&T’s residential VoIP calling service and features from a domestic broadband connection, at home or on the go (where E911 service is available). The company has recently renewed its marketing focus on AT&T CallVantage service as part of a strategy to expand its portfolio of voice solutions and offer more bundling options to consumers and remain competitive in the market.

Developed in conjunction with CounterPath Solutions, Inc.(OTC.BB: CTPS), a leading developer of SIP softphones, the Softphone service enables users to make and receive phone calls directly through their computer. The user-friendly software easily downloads to a PC or laptop. The service includes more than 10 popular and advanced calling features like Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voice Mail, Call Logs, Do Not Disturb and Locate Me services. Softphone users will also benefit from great international calling rates and peer-to-peer videoconferencing capabilities with other AT&T CallVantage Softphone users with the required accessories.

The Softphone service is available as either a stand-alone service or bundled with an existing AT&T CallVantage service account. Customers can choose from two AT&T CallVantage Softphone service plans:

  • AT&T CallVantage Softphone 300 Minute plan, which offers users 300 minutes of local and long distance calling within the U.S. and to Canada and Puerto Rico for $10.99 per month. Additional minutes will be charged at 4 cents per minute.
  • AT&T CallVantage Softphone Unlimited plan, which offers users unlimited local and long distance calling within the United States and to Canada and Puerto Rico for only $19.99 a month.

Customers who bundle the Softphone service with an existing monthly AT&T CallVantage subscription will receive a $5-per-month discount. Customers can order the stand-alone AT&T CallVantage Softphone service online at www.attcallvantage.com and will receive their first month of service at no cost, along with a waived activation fee.

“The AT&T CallVantage Softphone service is a great complement to our AT&T CallVantage service, as well as our industry-leading portfolio of voice solutions – and a very affordable alternative for consumers who want to use broadband to stay connected,” said Tyler Wallis, assistant vice president, AT&T Consumer. “This innovative new solution also offers a great service for the younger, tech-savvy consumers looking for the flexibility to stay connected when they travel.”

“AT&T is an established leader in the telecommunications field, and we are very excited to be working with the company as it extends the benefits of IP-based communication to the consumer mass market,” said Donovan Jones, president and COO at CounterPath. “The Softphone service is intuitive and user-friendly, with a wide range of advanced features, enabling consumers to communicate with greater flexibility.”
