Jim O'Brien

Vice President of Server Development

There is something special going on at CounterPath. We've brought together our carrier class softphone and our carrier-grade configuration and FMC servers in a way that provides real value for our carrier, enterprise and OEM customers. With our new hosted service offerings, we eliminate the barriers to entry for even our smallest enterprise customers.

As Vice President Server Development, Jim O'Brien directs CounterPath's Server Engineering team in architecting, building and supporting Stretto Platform™ server solutions that work closely with Bria softphone applications to provide customers with an unparalleled user experience that comprises Configuration, Device logging and Help Desk Assistant capabilities, User Experience Metrics, SMS over IP and Fixed-Mobile Convergence capabilities, and Instant Messaging and Presence.

Jim has over 15 years of experience in VoIP and mobile network engineering, development and deployment. Before joining BridgePort Networks in 2004 (now CounterPath), Jim was responsible for designing and deploying custom wholesale and enterprise VoIP services for Level(3) and Genuity customers, as well as managing a team of engineers which provided marketing, sales, and operational support. Earlier in his career Jim lead a group of engineers who were responsible for new product direction, development, and customer integration within GTE Internetworking's IP Telecom group.

Jim holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Jim has seven patents issued in the field of VoIP communications, with additional patents pending.
