CounterPath Appoints Donovan Jones as President and Chief Operating Officer

Vancouver, BC, Canada — September 04, 2014

CounterPath™ Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: CTPS), the leader in SIP-based application development, has appointed Donovan R. Jones as president and chief operating officer. Donovan’s appointment will drive increased focus around the strategy and execution of CounterPath’s imperatives as well as providing the operational rigor required to support the success realized from the company’s brand proliferation within the global service provider and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) market space.

Donovan formerly held the position of vice president of sales and marketing for CounterPath, where he was responsible for worldwide sales, marketing, and business development.

With CounterPath’s recently launched eyeBeam™ 1.5, a SIP-based video softphone with extensive security and QoS (Quality of Service) capabilities, Donovan will leverage the high-performance development team to continue the company’s mission to deliver the most robust and reliable softphone and multimedia applications to service providers, manufacturers and enterprises worldwide.

“VoIP usage has exploded over the last year, with mass consumer take-up driving increased enterprise use. Softphone solutions offer users greater flexibility and convenience, so they are an ideal way to harness the potential of VoIP,” said Mark Bruk, chairman and chief executive officer of CounterPath. “Our extensive global customer base means we are well positioned to dominate the growing softphone market. In his new role, Donovan will focus on maximizing this opportunity, working with key service and infrastructure providers to bring the benefits of our softphone solutions to their end users and subscribers around the world.”

“Having seen first-hand the growth in Internet-based telephony during my time with CounterPath, I’m excited to be leading the next stage of the company’s growth,” said Donovan Jones. “With both consumers and enterprises now experiencing the benefits of VoIP and Instant Messaging, softphones and multi-media applications have the potential to significantly change the way people interact, bringing added flexibility to how they communicate, both at work and at home.”

Donovan joined CounterPath from a boutique investment banking firm, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing transactions for mid-market private companies. Prior to this, he spent eight years with TELUS Communications, Canada’s second largest telecommunications company, focusing on the planning and execution of a series of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Subsequently, as director, marketing at TELUS, he held P&L responsibility for a CDN $200 million business unit, focusing on the selling, implementing and management of enterprise voice, data and IP infrastructure. Donovan holds an MBA from the University of Calgary and an Economics degree from the University of Alberta.
